8 Hours

This charter is our most memorable offerings.  A full day out at sea with large game fish on offer can become a life-changing experience for both the beginner and experienced angler.

The fishing grounds beyond Cape Point are world renowned for Tuna Fishing. We target the bigger species of pelagic fish like Yellowfin, Big Eye and Longfin Tuna.  You will also sometimes find Dorado or Marlin here too.  These large fish are known to put up an impressive fight. When you land one of them you will remember it for the rest of your life.  You may even find yourself hooked and wanting to experience the thrill over and over again.

The best method to catch Tuna is either by trolling lures behind the boat or creating a chum line and fishing with bait while drifting in the current. Often you will find other pelagic fish like Skipjack, Katonkel and Dorado in the same area.  From time to time we hook a Mako or Blue shark.  Although these fish will put up a memorable fight, we work on a strict catch and release basis for Mako and Sharks.

We recommend a very early departure for this outing in order to reach the prime fishing area.  The best fishing grounds lie approximately 40 nautical miles off Cape Point.  The sooner the departure, the more time you can spend trying to catch ‘The Big One’.

We use top of the range Shimano reels and comfortable stand-up harnesses.  Everything that you will need to catch a tuna is on board.

The safety of our guests is of utmost importance to us.  We ensure that our boat, our motors and navigation equipment is maintained to the highest standards. You will also find that all our fishing equipment is well maintained and in good working order.

We will keep your catch on ice and will gladly clean and fillet your catch on your return Simon’s Town.  You are more than welcome to enjoy a meal or a drink at the False Bay Yacht Club on your return.

A fully licensed and experienced skipper and deckhand

Our skipper, Peter, will meet you at the False Bay Yacht Club, Simon's Town, where he will sign you in to the club for the day.

A full safety and equipment briefing will be done, including the issuing of life vests.

We will depart via Simon's Town harbour with lovely views of the harbour, navy vessels and surrounding mountains.

The boat will either travel along the coast towards Cape Point and continue on towards the prime fishing grounds approximately 30 to 40 nautical miles from the shore. Enjoy the sensation of the wind whipping through your hair and sea spray on your face as the boat speeds towards the fishing grounds. Please do bring your camera and take copious amounts of photographs.

When arriving at the fishing grounds, the skipper and/or deckhand will prepare the rods with lures and/or bait. They will cast the trolling lines for you or prepare a rod for you to spin for fish. If there is a fish on the trolling line, you will be handed the rod and reel to pull it in, under the watchful eye and guidance of our crew. Once you have landed the fish, the crew will remove the hook for you and after you have revelled in the excitement of pulling in a catch and taking numerous photographs, the fish will be placed into the onboard ice box.

Please bring your lunch, snacks and drinks on board. You can enjoy your scrumptious treats any time during the trip.

After a great couple of hours out at sea, the skipper will turn the boat around and head back to the harbour. If you chose to have your fish cleaned and filleted, the spoils of your trip will be handed to you on arrival back at the pier. The entire catch will be divided and shared between yourself and our crew.

On your return, you are more than welcome to enjoy a meal or a drink at the False Bay Yacht Club as our guests.

Please do not forget to tip the crew.
